This class is a hybrid and can be experienced either in person or virtually! In person attendance will be limited to 12.
In this 4-part series, we will learn the basics so that you can attend all-levels classes with a sense of ease. The focus will be on learning the techniques of the basic yoga poses so that you can do them comfortably, even with physical limitations. Includes a month of unlimited yoga @ Square One studios.

Y12SR Benefit Heart Flow Yoga

Join Annabelle for a dynamic flow practice, focused on heart opening postures! We will move slowly, deeply and mindfully through a well rounded vinyasa practice which will include Surya Namaskar A & B series.
We will work to counter the “rounded back syndrome” by practicing back bends, using a conscious and deliberate breath practice to create space and move energy, facilitating the flow of Prana (Life-Force). Please have some prior Vinyasa experience.

Yoga & the Chakras ~ Moving through the first 3 Chakras
Saturday, October 22nd – 4-6pm @ Anasa Yoga in Oakland.
Join Annabelle for an extended practice, which will be themed around the first 3 chakras:
1) Root or Earth Chakra (Muladhara)
2) Water (Svadhisthana)
3) Fire (Manipura)
Through Asana (movement/poses), Pranayama (breath work) and Mantra, we will focus on these first 3 chakras to create more awareness and balance.
The work “Chakra” is the Sanskrit word for “wheel”. Our bodies contain 7 main Chakras, arranged vertically from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. These Chakras are energy centers, which when balanced, enable the free flow of energy and a clear path to our greatest potential. When a Chakra is out of balance, the shadow emotion of this chakra is introduced. When deficient or excessive, we sometimes become ill, feel emotionally unstable, and perhaps feel physically weak.
Chakras can be thought of as sites where we receive, absorb, and distribute life’s energies. Through external situations and internal habits, chakras can become unbalanced. This practice will focus on bringing the first 3 into balance, bringing calm, clarity and harmony to our entire being.

9 mornings of Yoga Ritual in the New Year!
January 4th – 12th, 2016, 6:30 – 7:30 am @ Anasa Yoga in Oakland.
Start the New Year with a 9 day mindfully devotional yoga practice! We will meet for 1 hour in the early mornings for 9 days of sacred practices. Come together in sangha (community) to share ancient rituals of yoga. We will dive deep into meditation, mantra, pranayama (breath work) bhakti (devotion) and subtle elements of asana (physical postures/movement). If you currently have a home practice, this will strengthen and expand it! If you are wanting to build a home practice, these 9 mornings will inspire, motivate and support you on this path!

Our 2-hour practice will include Sun Salutations A & B series (Surya Namaskar), a core sequence to strengthen the abdomen, a series of twists to “wring out”waste, a series of backbends to stretch the spine and balance the nervous system, and finally some Yin poses to soften and cool down – followed by a well earned and extended Savasana!
